Before technology became so advanced, there were some innovations that had to be there first. These are the inventions and innovations that paved for some of the greatest technological creations that we have today. And while we do have several other countries that contributed to the growth of technological innovations in the world, we will specifically look at the French.  As we do so, we will look at some of the greatest French innovations that paved the ways for technology as we know it today.

Great French Innovations That Paved Way for Technological Growth

1.      The Parachute

Top of our list is the parachute. It was invented in the 18th century by Louis-Sebastien Lenormand.  As we all know that we can invent a new and life changing innovation into the world without testing it first. Therefore, Louis made the first recorded parachute public jump in 1783.

As for the name of this great invention, Lenormand, it was created by using two French words and combining them together. He used the French prefix “paracete” which means to protect against and the word “chute” which means to fall in French for casino france. As you can tell, the name of the parachute was created to describe its function as well.

2.      The Stethoscope

The stethoscope is considered to be a doctors’ best friend. And the world have the French to thank for this amazing invention. The world also has to thank technology for twerking up this invention to the way that it is today.

The Stethoscope was invented by French physician Rene Theophile Hyacinthe Laennec in 1816. With his invention, Rene investigated the sounds made by the heart. He was considered to be the father of clinical auscultation.  He wrote down the first descriptions of several diseases and infections namely:

  • Bronchiectasis
  • Cirrhosis
  • Pneumonia
  • Pleurisy
  • Emphysema
  • Pneumothorax
  • Phthisis

3.      The Photograph

A picture is worth a 1000 words they say. And we wouldn’t have such lovely photographs is it wasn’t for the French. Niepce in partnership with Louis Daguerre worked on and created the photograph. They worked on out post-exposure processing methods to create amazing results with exposure time within minutes instead of hours.

Daguerre then took the earliest photograph of a person in 1938 at the same he captured the Paris Street. This was then publicly announced and it obviously created excitement among the people. Thereafter, France presented this invention to the world as a gift of France on August 19th 1839.

And from that time, we can see just how far the world taken the creation of photographs as well cameras.

As we can see, innovation is the mother of great technological advancements. All the great things tech products that we use today all had to start from somewhere. Someone had to have an idea and another person had to be able to see how they can make that idea better. And these are but a few those great ideas that originated form the French.
